    WHILE MAINTAINING SOCIAL distancing, retired Clallam County Streamke epers coordinator Ed Chadd gets close to stream bugs while filmmaker John Gussman captures the process on video to incorporate in the Friends of Ennis Creek's upcoming film, "Ennis -- A Creek Worth Saving." Chadd was demonstrating one of the important services Streamkeepers volunteers perform, assessing and .   Streamkeepers, Clallam County’s watershed citizen science program, is seeking new volunteers to help collect stream health data, perform data entry and analysis, and conduct education and outreach. As the program approaches its 20th year, there is a continuing need for volunteers to join existing teams gathering data and performing other.

The Clallam County Department of Community Development (DCD) reorganized late last year, and now Streamkeepers is part of the Natural Resources Division of DCD (created from the Planning Department and made up of all of us who work on natural resources issues).

Andy Brastad, who used to work for Environmental Health, is our new fearless leader. Clallam MRC interns learn valuable professional skills, help advance Clallam MRC projects, and engage with the local community on marine issues.

Streamkeepers of Clallam County is the County’s watershed public involvement program. Our purpose is to involve residents in caring for watersheds by monitoring local streams, providing useful data that can help guide management decisions, and fostering watershed stewardship.

Streamkeepers volunteers use industry-standard scientific methods, Little said. Data is entered, checked and analyzed by volunteers and staff, then archived in Clallam County’s Water Resources database, which is managed by Streamkeepers.
